I am currently pursuing research in a number of areas. First, I am conducting research on self-presentation, particularly in evaluative and competitive settings. This includes work on sandbagging, and more recently, the interplay between impression management and impression formation. Second, I study consumer attitudes. Recently that work has focused on how evaluative conditioning and product placement influences attitudes toward the product. Finally, I have conducted research focusing on psychological aspects of smoking. This research has examined the role of movies on the development of implicit smoking self-identification. I am a member of the Society for Experimental Social Psychology (SESP), the Society for Personality and Social Psychology (SPSP), the Society of Consumer Psychology (SCP), and a Fellow of the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI).
